The archaeological sit of Chichen-itza is an everlasting testimony to ancient Mayan splendor. It’s amazing city hidden in the forest of southeast Mexico, located 125 miles west of Cancun.
The Maya made impressive breakthroughs and were renowned architects, artist and road builders. They also developed an astronomical calendar and predicted both solar and lunar eclipses, pioneered the mathematical concept of zero and evolved a highly refined hieroglyphic writing system.
The artist legacy of the Maya began with thousands of men building huge temples to honor their gods and rulers. Them the artists embellished them with frescoes and carved bas-reliefs. But the artist legacy of the Maya doesn’t stop there. Ceramics, carved stones & shells are also a testimony of past artistic excellence.
Archaeological sites such as Chichen-itza are the legacy of the ancient Maya. The area holds the Kukulkan Pyramid. Ball court, Temple of the Warriors, Thousand Columns, Tzompantli Jaguars & eagles platform & the Venus platform; and located beyond the great plaza. The sacred Cenote or Well, connected by a sacbé (paved white road).
